Hey there, I’m Anthony Veneziale. I have been teaching and performing improvisation for over 25 years.
A graduate of Wesleyan University with a BA in Film Studies after which I moved to New York City and co-founded the production company Back House Productions. Their first musical “In The Heights” eventually went to Broadway, where it won the Tony Award for best new musical of 2008.
Recently, I created and produced the Pivot channel’s series “Freestyle Love Supreme”, which is an improvised, hip hop television show based on the group of the same name, that I co-founded with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Thomas Kail. FLS will be starting a run on Broadway at the Booth Theater this fall September 13, 2019.
I also helped with the relaunch of children’s television show “The Electric Company” that is now airing on PBS, working as a creative producer, writer, lyricist, and actor. Some favorite acting roles include Steven Soderbegh’s “Che”, HBO’s “Looking”, “Sex and the City” and ABC’s “All My Children”, and numerous commercials.
In San Francisco, I founded the freestyle improv troupe called “The Freeze”, a west coast version of “Freestyle Love Supreme”. In 2013 I co-founded the hit improvised PowerPoint show “Speechless” with Sammy Wegent and Scott Lifton, which is quickly becoming a major force in the corporate training world.
The power of improvisation can be used to help with mental fitness, wellbeing and finding a joyful path in your life. It can be used to help bridge the confidence gap that exists for so many in America and to better connect and communicate with other human beings. Please reach out with any questions or insights as I am always delighted in collaboration and new discoveries.
Yes and…
Anthony
